Antonio Porcelli, born in Acqualagna in 1949 and prematurely deceased in Genoa in 1995, focused his creative attention on body and his expressive possibilities. His actions, caught in photos and preserved in video, have always collocated the body in the middle of the artistic representation, transformed picture into dance and gesture, offered the artist’s skin to sign and colour, creating fast an astral aura where colour was created and destroyed, where the image started a never ending mobility. “He was willing to give the idea of a body like an exceeding (going beyond its limit) machine and therefore, superfluous” (L.Meneghelli). Porcelli used his models’ body like an extreme sign of absolute grace in which he expressed every sign.
In the places of his actions only figural residues remained, fragmented fingerprints reminding his “theatrical gestures”, his performances consumed in a short space of some minutes.
