The exhibition space of the Gallery La Giarina,
is on the ground floor of a historic building dating back to 1500's
in the oldest part of Verona, between Piazza Isolo and the Teatro Romano
close to the Adige river. The location called, “la giarina”
gives its name to the gallery itself. Like a Roman courtyard the space
is a path around a four-sided courtyard, which one enters from a foyer
decorated with neoclassic paintings. In recent years an underground
display room, called the “project room”, has been also added.
The
gallery was established in 1987 with a curious exhibition event based
on the history of American cinema fantasy. The collection of the American
Ackerman was displayed. Followed immediately by a personal show of Arman
that gave to the beginning a full program of exhibitions that focused
in the story and contemporary of art. The idea of the search and of
the contamination has always marked the work of the gallery that presented
it over the course of the years. Exhibitions on the leading historical
edge of the 1900’s compared with the most recent artistic tendencies.
Movements like Futurism, Dadaism, Surrealism, Fluxus,
Nouveau Realisme, Visual Poetry, took turns with Body art, Video art,
Digital art, group art or community art. Some of the significant exhibitions:

The gallery has dedicated space to personal exhibitions for both Italian
and international artists already historicised, above all affirmed young
