EXHIBITION n. 109
EXHIBITION TITLE: SCONNESSIONI
ARTISTS: DAVIDE COLTRO - DANIELE GIRARDI - ASSAF GRUBER - SANTIAGO PICATOSTE - SILVANO TESSAROLLO
PERIOD: 08 JUNE – 20 SEPTEMBER 2010

The radical changes occurring in our time produce contrast and opposing energies in a system unable to meet the expectations of contemporary man. In face of cultural annihilation, the artist chooses the critical position of a not-lining-up thought and proposes a different reading of the present, made true only by the detachment from an “institutional” media power becoming a secret means of mind persuasion. This “other truth” must be communicated and shared with our own artistic research. As Noam Chomsky asserts, quoting a slogan of '68 '…there is no ”power to imaginationbut an imagination with power”….'

And so Davide Coltro’s aesthetically perfect landscapes become disturbing because of an artificial light distorting order and beauty. Daniele Girardi’s volcanoes suddenly explode, revealing the rage and power of a too long violated nature for the interests of a voracious capitalism. Assaf Gruber, from Israel, denounces through his photographic images, a peace process which is always difficult to attain in that area of Middle East torn by continuous conflicts. Santiago Picatoste with his canvas where nature appears to be irreparably spoiled by petrol indicates the extreme outcome of an irrational run to profit end to itself. Eventually, Silvano Tessarollo's still lives drop a ghostlike silence on every human illusion of overcoming the limit of matter.
