Santiago Picatoste bron in Palma De Mallorca in 1971, lives and works in Madrid.
"My work is based upon the concept of surviving, the adaptation and claim of nature in the big cities in the 21st century. It postures above the little room which reduces its existence and a critic for those spaces I call “green zones”.
My interest is to show a character in nature’s shape that fights to create inside the surface of its own vital space, establishing a chaotic dynamism inside the appearance of the daily order. My codes make mention of the town, finding all kinds of graphitise references in old walls, which reflects the mark of our times.
I demand the plastic language, the different textures that supply it, with them I create image’s superposition or layers of colours which reveals the emotions and the experiences of the part of our day to day lives.
I understand art as an open dialogue of space between the piece and the audience, I do not like to resolve the message of the piece, my interest is to create questions and metaphors which its own meaning, the titles of my work are ironic and make the audience guess.
I am concern about the ecologic erosion, the bad use of technologies, the excess use of energy and the absence of communication and individualism."
