Grown up in the Venetian circle with E.Vedova, Peggy Guggenheim put him in touch with the abstract Expressionism (1951). His works of the ‘50s belong to the theatrical signs series. After the discovery of E. Munch’s work, obsessive and hallucinating images gradually arouse in the ‘60s, symptom of a spiritual uneasiness in face of the contemporary world (Matti and Diari paesani series; Hiroshima n.1, 1962).
